Summary: This bill expands the definition of "residential property" for insurance companies, and prohibits insurance companies from cancelling coverage solely due to the presence of animals on premises. This bill also requires affordable housing companies funded by certain government programs or that receive tax credits to allow pet animals, with certain reasonable restrictions.
CHC Position/Concerns:AMEND - The CHC is seeking to amend this bill, as the "reasonable restrictions" as provided in the bill do not allow for weight restrictions, even if a property is not built with pet animals in mind.

- February:The CHC has attended stakeholder meetings around this bill, and have raised our concerns around insurance industry reactions to these new requirements, as well as our concerns around what the bill sponsors consider "reasonable" restrictions with pet animals.
